The DWI arrest of a Putnam Valley mother, Suzanne Kristofferson, with 5 children in the car has readers buzzing about the latest incident in a string of arrests of mothers drinking and driving with kids in the car. Read the story.

One reader kicked off the discussion by writing:

What the heck is it with these women? Drunk driving is wrong … putting kids in the car is even worse. Then letting them out without bail, maybe they need to begin setting some high bonds on them, just for having the kids in the car.

Another added:

Another upstanding mother. Can you imagine getting a call that one of your kids was being driven around by (her)?

Drinking and driving is a sore topic for readers and, as usual, they are calling for harsh punishment for anyone convicted of the crime.

Here’s one reader’s take on the situation:

There is nothing this woman can say to defend her actions. I don’t want to know what a hard life she has, don’t want to hear it. She put herself and people in danger. Prosecute to full extent of the law and get her off the road.

Another continued:

It’s bad enough to have your own kids in the car, but to have someone else’s kids in the car is a disgrace. … It’s time to make this charge more than a misdemeanor, considering a child’s life could be taken due to recklessness and stupidity.

You know this will have no happy ending at all!! If you prosecute this woman to the fullest she will lose her life with her family, and if you don’t take action she will do it again. Yes she will cry: oh God I’ll never do it again! But she will and the only way to help her and stop others is the breathcar ignition test. This is where you have to blow into the mouthpiece in order to start the car. If the system detect’s any alcohol the car will NOT start and the “GPS” will notify the local police. This should be done at the owners expence as well!!
This woman needs our help!!! You lock her up, will do no one any help from this day forward. Ask yourself this question, have you left from a company dinner and or a “friends” dinner party and said the next day: WOW that was some party????? Or I’ll just have “one”??? and didn’t??? We’ve all done it!! She needs our help, not Jailhousebars!
Thank God no one was hurt this time!!!!??????

ya know what makes me laugh?? you all think you know what’s best and you all think you know this woman….love the fact that you say that she will do it again when YOU HAVE NO CLUE to the circumstances NOR do you know WHAT TYPE OF PERSON SHE IS!!!you all generalize the situation based onthe fact that others have KILLED their kids and HURT their kids in these OTHER cases. Do you KNOW HER?? DO YOU KNOW THE DETAILS?? HOW DARE you all jugde this woman when the only facts yo have are from the cut throat MEDIA!!! COLOUR 1…what right do you have to speculate thet she will cry but DO IT AGAIN?? who do you think you are when you have facts based on the media??? get the facts, look at yourself before you DARE to judge this woman hen you have NEVER MET HER!! you don’t know…it disgusts me that it is sooo easy for all of you to pass jugdement on a person you don’t even know, AGAIN based on the, “trump it all up for a GOOD story media”....you all make me sick!
