White Plains fire: Editorial
In our editorial today, we cheer the heroism of the White Plains Fire Department and the six other departments that aided their battle against a Wednesday blaze that gutted a block on East Post Road. We write:
“There will be time enough for the could-have-, should-have-, would-have-beens during the investigation of Wednesday’s massive fire in White Plains. But right now is the time to be grateful. Though the blaze took out a row of businesses and sent 25 firefighters to the hospital for smoke inhalation, heat exhaustion and heart palpitations, none of the injuries was life threatening and no one was killed. …
“…That good fortune must be attributed to the heroic efforts of the city’s fire department and the firefighters from six surrounding communities who rushed to the scene on East Post Road and provided additional support. …”
