Budget experts say that a tax cap will surely force big cuts by schools, because so much spending is mandated by — but not necessarily funded by — the state and federal governments. Coward’s way out!! Cap the things that are driving property taxes up. Cap pensions at median income or even 1 1/2 times median income(who can argue with that?), cap health insurance increases, mandate a social security careveout. Do you realize the public even pays Medicare premiums for people with state pensions?
30% for no? Can’t be anyone other than teachers, the school lobby, and criminally insane inmates who post from taxpayer funded computers.
A tax cap not the solution, but spending cuts are. If costs are kept in check there is no need for a tax cap. Look at California: due to employee contractual obligations few cuts were made but, due to the tax cap, revenues could not keep up with espenses. The result: vastly diminished services to the taxpayers while unions kept their pensions, health plans, and salaries.
New York does naot know how to cut costs; they don’t even know how to keep them in check.

So on principle, I oppose the caps because the only remedy left to live under the new spending caps will be to fire teachers and staff, especially young, capable teachers
Cap at 2% PLUS make spending cuts. NY is out of control. Not just unions and pensions …. too much fraud, too much waste EVERYWHERE.
The problem is all the illegal aliens over loading our schools.In my town they live 10-20 people in a single family residents.They flood the schools with kids who hardly speak English.They don’t pay their share of school/propert taxes.They ruined the schools, healthcare system and get free Social Secruity when they come across the border and do the now famous ” Drop Baby” thing,Thanks to all the bleeding heart liberals, now America’s own kids, the ones that really belong here are screwed.Americans and their Gov’t. are stupid fools, and we will pay for this stupidity BIG TIME, and way sooner than you think..!!
