Cuomo’s proposal would cut the state budget by $3.7 billion, a decrease of 2.7 percent. His plan seeks to close a $10 billion budget gap for the upcoming fiscal year. In his $132.9 billion budget, the governor recommends making significant cuts in state funding to schools, health care, higher education and municipal aid.
Cuomo outlined his approach to the budget process in a commentary piece published in today’s editions of The Journal News.
