A conversation with the Editorial Board

Editorial Spotlight: Tomorrow’s panel on redistricting now at 2 p.m.

Posted by: Christopher Vaughan - Posted in Editorial Spotlight, Uncategorized on Feb 06, 2012

A proposed redistricting plan for the state Legislature — released last
month by the Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and
Reapportionment, or LATFOR — feeds the general perception that in New York,
politics and powergrabs are hallmarks of the process.

At 2 p.m. tomorrow, the Editorial Board talks about redistricting, LATFOR and
the future of independent redistricting in New York. The state Legislature
is required by law to redraw the lines for all state legislative and
congressional seats every 10 years to reflect population and demographic
changes.

Panelists include: Carolyn Stevens, board member of the League of Women
Voters of Westchester; Susan Lerner, executive director of Common Cause New
York; Ossining Mayor William Hanauer; and Ossining Town Supervisor Susanne
Donnelly.
