Two Ramapo Town Board members say they want to transfer authority of the town’s local development corporation to the Town Board to improve transparency. How LoHud.com readers responded:
‘The Town Board has guaranteed many (RLDC) loans and it is my responsibility to make sure that the money is in place,’ to repay them, [Withers] said.” Um … wouldn’t the time to do that have been BEFORE you voted to guarantee the loans? What are you planning to do now, if you find out the money’s not there?”
— David A. Curry
I don’t know that this is a solution, but it is a step in the right direction to getting some sort of oversight of the LDC. However, the Town will still be on the hook for a project that was voted down by the taxpayers. Sad. You’d think people would keep this in mind around election season, but not enough people come out to vote to change things in this town.”
— Marshall Katz
It will never change. The Ramapo board only knows SPEND SPEND! even after the voters say no.”
