Locals reacted on social media to former Rutgers University student Dharun Ravi’s sentencing Monday of 30 days in jail, plus a fine, community service, probation and treatment, saying 30 days was either too little jail time and or just enough.
Ravi was convicted of bias intimidation and invasion of privacy for rigging a webcam to spy on his roommate, Tyler Clementi, while he was with another man. Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 22, 2010; Ravi was not charged in connection with his death.
