The missing Rye teen found in New York early this morning is back home with his parents after a New York City police officer spotted him in Washington Heights. LoHud.com readers, who had been following the story of the search for days and sharing the news on social media, responded:
Personally I think everyone in this situation is lucky to have each other. … I think this family should be left alone now to heal. There is a lot they need to work on as a family. All we can do as their peers is hope and pray that they see the blessings before them. I am not a religious person, but I know when a miracle happens and when second chances are given.”

Today’s editorial on New York receiving a waiver from federal No Child Left Behind school reform finds no support for teachers and parents in the comments. What readers said:
Congrats, New York. Once again we lead the nation! Unemployment, welfare, crime, taxes and now stupidity. Don’t raise the bar, lower the standard. If certain types can’t learn, let the ones who can suffer by getting passed over for job promotions and opportunities because we have to take care of those who can’t quite cut it.”
— Cole Carter
It amazes me how parents, and concerned adults in general, don’t demand more for our kids’ education. I really hope it’s not too late [by] the time people wake up, although at the rate we’re going, I’m not very optimistic.”

All that accountability was just killing the teachers’ union. They like it much more when they can blame their consistent failures on a lack of funds, the rich, the tea party, Wall Street and GW.”
