Trending on Twitter this morning:
National Donut Day, Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. The free-food holiday originated 75 years ago with the Salvation Army honoring women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. National Donut Day falls on the first day in June each year; it’s just a coincidence that this year it comes one day after New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who declared today NYC Donut Day, proposed a ban on large surgery drinks in an effort to fight obesity.
@ThePantau just got my free donut for national donut day. Now I just need a 20oz coke. #Bloomberghatesme

It’s national donut day. Maybe it’s a good thing/lucky coincidence that I didn’t have time to eat breakfast this morning
