New York’s decision to open exclusive bus lanes on the new Tappan Zee Bridge during rush hour is “an important step in the right direction,” said Ron Levine, spokesman for Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef. How LoHud.com readers see it:
I have commuted over the TZ off and on for many years. I don’t recall seeing buses on more than a handful of occasions. An HOV/bus lane during peak hours would be more rational and would promote ride sharing.”

I agree that an HOV/BRT lane may be appropriate, but you may be getting your cause and effect confused with respect to the number of buses you see. If they had their own lane and could zip past the congestion on the bridge, then I would imagine they would become a far more popular option among those who do not like sitting in traffic, thus increasing their frequency.”
— William J. Farrell
Yeah, the only way you will be able to cross the new bridge is by bus. You heard me — $25 tolls. Thank you, Gov. Cuomo. The bridge will forever be called ‘Cuomo’s Folly.’”
— Marty Halpin
I think this is an excellent start.”
