What people are talking about in 24 hours of LoHud.com:
Not everyone enjoyed watching two water towers come down in Mount Pleasant this week, writes former neighbor Sandy Mckenna. The towers were built in the 1930s and 1950s, and decommissioned in 2005.
I took a ride up Swanson Drive yesterday to see what was going on with the water towers after I read about it on my Facebook. I have to say, I did not ‘enjoy’ watching the blow torches dismantle what was a part of my life and my family’s life for over 30 years. We, the McKennas, lived diagonally across from the towers from 1963 to December 1994. It was Mr. McKenna and Mrs. Schmidt (our old neighbor) that planted (back in ‘64), the now-huge trees that hid the towers. The then-baby trees were about 2 to 3 feet tall. It will be a positive move to have new homes built on the site but in my mind, my family, and I’m sure some of the old neighbors, will always remember the towers when driving by.”

A house fire in Somers on Wednesday displaced two people living there, and people are posting in an effort to locate them.
I know this family and would like to help them in some way. They lost everything, but [I] can’t locate them.”
