Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., opened a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing today on gun violence with a call to action. Giffords was shot in the head more than two years ago in Tucson, and since then she and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, have become advocates for gun control.
“Speaking is difficult but I need to say something important,” she told the senators. “Violence is a big problem, too many children are dying, too many children. We must do something. Americans are counting on you.”

Courageous lady but Gabby Giffords has zero to say to me about guns. Getting shot by some leftist freak does not give you moral authority to disarm me. She is an expert on gun issues like I’m a doctor because I’ve had surgery. This is a dog and pony show for emotional appeal only
