State Sen. Greg Ball, R-Patterson, sparked controversy Friday when he tweeted about punishment for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing April 15:

The tweet is one of 5,924 Ball, @ball4ny, has sent since joining Twitter in 2008. Ball, like many of his colleagues in the New York Legislature and representatives in Congress, uses his social media account to communicate with his constituents and share his thoughts on issues before government.
He also regularly tweets to his 5,000 followers about running, movies and TV he likes and coffee.
