At 11 a.m., the Editorial Board will sit down with health care experts to discuss New York’s Health Benefit Exchange, where individuals and small businesses will turn to for health insurance starting this fall under the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Enrollment starts in October, and coverage will begin Jan. 1. Topics for Thursday’s discussion include: the purpose of the health exchange, how New York’s insurance “marketplace” will work and who it will benefit. Participants are to include:
• Deborah Marshall, vice president at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern and a member of the New York Health Benefit Exchange regional advisory committee.
• John Ravitz, executive vice president/CEO of the Business Council of Westchester.
• James Schutzer, president-elect of the New York State Association of Health Underwriters and president of J.D. Moschitto & Associates, a consulting group that specializes in strategic benefits services for small- to mid-size employers.
